Nov. 3 1843 Anne & Lucy

[upside down]Dear Brother Jo, I was "going to go" to Foxcroft today Sund. morn. & perhaps I may still but lest I should be disappointed I'll put in a word here and send by someone. Did you see the Eclipse this morning? I wish I could have been up in the Heavens a little way so as to look down on Sol a little sooner to see the Ring. I smoked my glass having great expectations, and "lo to" there was only a common Eclipse. I hope we shall see the Transit of Mercury. Thursday. I want to go up today, & do some shopping, & stay two or three days, till after examinations, but don't much expect I can.
