Camp 14. June 11th 1875. Rain & sleet during night with occasional high wind. Slept like a top under a pile of covers - ordered reveille an hour late - Soon after Breakfast the sun came out - kept the tents standing to allow them to dry as much as possible - Wrote in journal & observations - Broke camp 11.15 by which time the tents were finally dry. Our route led up Custer's floral valley 0 Alas for the floral- The trees were scarcely budded, nor did many of the smaller shrubs showed not even swollen buds.
