covered with quaking asp, pine & spruce - But alas for the "floral" part of it - It is very early spring here. The trees are just budding. Only the hardiest flowers are in bloom - the grass is short. There are few birds & they are not yet paired - on the ridge we fell in with a fine "pack" or covey of spike grouse - at least a dozen birds, apparently not yet thinking of the bonding season. The springs here are very fine & perfectly pure water The timber rather poor. Grass very backward. The soil appears to be excellent in the valley
