second plain . plenty of sand & some mud from rain on 23d. Heavy hauling for unclear- most delightful day for marching. Camped on Rawhide at 1.30 pm. 16 miles from last camp - Everything travelled well - caught some chubs? & late in evening went out & shot some doves -- Officers very agreeable & efficient - Had nice unclear - Several officers visiting me - Good camp. Water grass & wood.
