My Dear Sister,
We were not very much surprised when we received the telegram telling of the death of brother James Allen at the hospital at Utica, as we knew of his decision to go there and submit to an operation. He had a severe sickness before we visited them and has had some very severe spells of sickness from gall stones since then. The sickness he had the past winter was very severe.
The surgeons found a gall stone imbedded in his liver which after break they took out between his ribs. He died praising God. It is such a comfort to know this. O how much he will be missed by his family and friends.
