Dear Brother
So it seems you are at Waterford Water Cure Establishment, in spite of my remonstrance & advice, or as you say in absolute defiance of my authority. Well, there are limits to all human authority, and mine I fear does n't extend over the mountains when I am not there. I did not believe, when you wrote that you were going to the Water Cure, that you were so much in earnest consequently considerably surprised on reaching home last night to find a letter post marked "Waterford"
Well, I am glad to hear you are there, and so pleasantly situated, though my theory, which I wrote you I believe, is somewhat different from the full belief of a Water Cure Cure in your case only a gentle use of it, with quiet. This having I think likely you have improved for a few months past, and I should fear that a very rigorous course of WaterCure processes might injure you, but that of course your physicians will know if it does.
The good thing at any rate I see you are gaining "knowledge of the world" "Rocks & Hard pan" What an unsophisticated youth you are! Did you ever hear of two such States as Mass. & N.H.? Until you have seen some place or other, pray do not talk about Rocks & Hard pan in Maine.
