Consistency is a great point in the character of Mr John Rogers Clayton. For instance, if he has a particular idea to carry out, its interference with the rights of others does not prevent its accomplishment, for he never seems to even dream of the propriety of consulting those to be incommoded by the operation; but let another act in the same manner, and he will immediately remind the offender that "etiquette should have prompted you to consult me on the subject before you took the liberty of doing what you have done."
