By present appearance there will be to be half a crop of grass The clover especially is drying clear into the Earth. Some here even begin to cut it to save what there is. Showers have failed here though coming with a few miles of us.

  Corn was very backward, but this extreme warm dry weather is sending it forward very rapidly.
