Dear Brother,

It seems as if it had been a great while since I have seen you. I believe I wrote to you from Brunswick, but am not certain.
I wrote a letter at Boston Sept. 4th, but it was after the Mail, and I did not send it, as it would have been worth nothing the next day.

Perhaps you may by some chance have heard something of my peregrinations, of which I wrote an extremely prolix account to Milo a week since. Lest you may not, suffer me briefly to recapitulate -- I left Brunswick Friday, Sept 2nd, Stage to Bath, St Huntress to Portland, R.R. to Boston, Stopped at Marlboro called on Humphrey Stevens, Mrs. Child, Mrs. C. Chase etc. Mr. Bush died suddenly two or three weeks ago, almost instantaneously. Left Boston Monday Morning Sept. 6th R.R. to Worcester, Stage Via Barre to Warwick. Uncle Jos. not there at home. The men I wished to see at Northfield, viz, J.A. Stevens and --Edwards, Cheif Engineer of Mass & Vermont R.R. also both absent, so I did not go over there. Spent Tues. 7th at Aunt Conant's. 8th at Uncle Joseph's 9th Walked over to Royalston Uncle Jacob's Metcalf's . His second wife, was buried on the 7th, distressing illness five days. Samuel, also Widower at home. Josiah teaching school successfully at Winchester, home at funeral, but returned. Harriet, Prescott's widow, now, Mrs. Brewster, now there from Worcester.
