He said that as the Conn. river Road is complete. the Engineers with whom he is most acquainted are away. He knows some of the Engineers on the Vermont & Mass. Road, and also the Cheshire Road, and promised to make inquiries there and write to me.
They had lately received a letter from Mother, stating that Charles has been married three months. He wrote "they all had neglected to report the matter, I conclude they put it off till they could see whether he lived" ! Humphrey has returned from the West, and is expected at Warwick in a week. Maria is at home etc. Want I should "come and see them" as soon as I am dismissed." etc.
As for teaching I have pretty much made up my mind never to teach any more. I do not like it. It is not my "calling." While in College, I was not my own Man, must do whatever I could for money. I am so hear through now that I begin to feel quite independent; even if I am a hundred or two in debt. I may be obliged to teach this Fall. If I go West probably shall: but, if not, I rather guess not.
As for the Waterville & Bangor R.R. I wish you would keep me constantly informed of every thing you can learn about. Is this "Moor" of Waterville, or where? Allow me to congratulate you upon your success in SOT Election not however that I think that 'P.W.P.' or 'J.G.N.P.G.W.P. or any more of them are comparable to "Pres of Ath. Soc." What do you mean by "Rich Man's preacher"?
I think neither Adams or Merrill very great men.
