Have you seem or read Headley's new book, "Washington and his Generals"? S.W. Furber presented the first Volume to Lucy, the day I was in Boston. I have not read the whole, interesting, but I guess hardly equal to "Napoleon and his Marshalls."

  Is Godman's Natural History in your Library?
  What is the reason that Lucy and Eliab, and Anne do not write to me? I have not even heard from that Milo celebration Pic Nic etc. yet. I do not understand why they do not write.
 I heard Rev. Wm. S. Sewall of Brownville preach in Topsham, last Sabbath. Mr. Swan Lyman Pomroy is to preach here next Sabbath.

Arthur Swasey has preached here four Sabbaths lately. He is certainly rather a good preacher for a youngster, he knows it far too well himself though.

 I have heard something said of him as thought of for the Third or Central Church of Bangor. I may be prejudiced against the man, and against his intended wife; but as I think of them, I certainly hope A. Swasey will not be settled over that Church. I regard that that as likely to be a very important situation. It ought to be filled by a superior man, and a powerful man.
 I suppose you have heard him preach somewhat. How? Is he the best of his Class. as a preacher? I judge they do not have a great many great men graduate at that Institution nowadays, do they? Have your heard G.M. Adams, George Moulton Adams J. H. Merrill, and H.M. Stone? Adams & Merrill are superior men. Adams is the very tall long necked fellow. Stood very high here. Drummond of the Junior Class, will come up. B.G. Snow is good, not very great
