What shall I do when I get through at old Bowdoin? I have applied for a Situation of some kind upon the "Lewiston Falls and Waterville Rail Road" survey. Am all ready to go into anything any time on or after the twenty eighth day of July next. (July 27th, 1847) Shall I go West? What Shall I do any how? Where shall I get some money this summer? $100.00.

I like much our studies this term. One is "Smellies' Philosophy of Natural History," but w do not depend much upon the Text book. We have some lectures upon Anatomy. Comparative Anatomy, Natural History, Physiology etc. scientifically considered; Also plenty of Anatomical subjects, specimens, cabinets, and preparations; together with the most valuable & extensive and expensive, plates, books and so forth.

Also Lectures & Examinations upon Mineralogy and Geology by to say the least I suppose, one of the two greatest Mineralogists on this side of the Atlantic at least.

These lectures are in the Cabinet itself as a lecture room.
Our other studies are "Wayland's Moral Science", and "Upham's Philosophy of the Will". I am most interested in the former. I am reading considerable upon Anatomy, and intend to somewhat upon Mineralogy and Botany. Shall make some Mineralogical excursions henceabouts I think.
It is somewhat exciting seasons here nowaday; Election times. Peucinian Election last Wednesday, Athenaean next Wednesday, the Theological was yesterday. The great interest is upon the Athenaean, next week. My own interests in it are very great; that is, for my friends.
