I would advise not you to purchase a Gold watch. those you mentioned are Ladies watches. I would not have a gold watch cost less than $50 to 70! Much prefer a thorough perfect, full jewelled Lever Silver, cost $30, 00 to 32,00 do ten times the service, and really better every way.

 Some of our Turner Young men are going down East this week up to Lincoln, lumbering etc. some 8 or 10 of them. They go tomorrow I expect, and will pass through Bangor, perhaps stop there a little, so I think of sending these letters by them, they will get to Bangor a little sooner than by Wed. mail. But perhaps it will not be best to put the money therein, for fear that it might be mislaid. Though they are young men who might be trusted, good country fellows. I will send it in a week or two, perhaps a fortnight, about Thanksgiving time if just as convenient for you, when I have got the rest of my money.  As for your remarks on my 'weak side' as you are pleased to term it, I beg leave to inform you that you are entirely & unnecessary out of the way in your calculations! There would possibly be some such danger for yourself if you ever ventured into the company of Ladies that is: not however that I would advise you not to do so, but probably you have erred somewhat in any character.
 By the way, have you altered you opinion in relation to early marriages? Did I ever convince you of that!
 I expect to teach school this Winter in Richmond a town on Kennebec, not very far from Augusta.
