Sept. 1st

I think you ought to spend some of your money for clothes. You will not lose any thing by dressing well pretty. Your Employers and every body else will like you better for it Ann, I suppose will give you plenty of advice on that point.

I feel better today than I did yesterday, have pretty much got rid of the pain in my side. I am getting over my cold.

I sent a bundle by T. H. Rich. Have you got it? It contained a lot of rags, a pair of new coarse shirts which I do not need, having plenty more of the same sort and enough to keep me till next spring, and also my thin coat. I gave $3.00 for it in Boston, and have worn it ever since about constantly. I thought I would not carry it to Turner. The cloth is very enduring, the making? gave out some, mended up it would do one of you some service, I guess it would fit, it is small for me. it is neat setting and pretty fashion. Very fashionable as Season coats. I believe I sent some pants I got shaved on. I gave 8 or 9 sh for both, thought they were worth that if any thing: they were worth nothing! though I have worn them considerable some.
I enclose a note written as I think is about fair considering all things. If however you do not like it, you may write another to suit yourself, for which I also send a signature to match. I have considerable business on my hands this week: you need not infer from your knowledge & experience of my 'business propensities,' that I can not, & do not, perform it in shape. Business being thus entrusted to me shows the opinion of other on that point.
I suppose you know that I am a 'Junior.' My Summer Term bill is $17.48. Tuition 8, Room 3,34. Average 1,04 at which all grumble for there has been no damage this term hardly Sundries etc. 3,35 . Ath. treat 1.00 Class Supper .75.
[in pencil] Money is getting scarce again
