Dear Brother

You know I had concluded to go home in the approaching vacation; and then come back next term and stay a spell, trusting to get a good winter school, and get along somehow?
Well I have about concluded since then that I would teach this fall. I believe I wrote to Eliab the other day, something about the chance. It is in Turner, some 25 or 30 miles from here; a high school, paid by a fund belonging to the town, so there is no trouble collecting, as in a private school School not more than 50, none under 12 or over 21 of age, Studies every thing. Wages $20.00 per Month, Time 3 months == $60.00 Wages most too low. I wrote once $25.00 per month, received a letter yesterday that said 20, again. Commence Monday after Commencement or Monday September 8th, till last of Nov.

It certainly is not a very bad chance, and in my circumstances and poverty, I suppose it would not do to refuse it, thought I hate dreadfully to be out this fall, on many accounts. There are many reasons why I wish to be here this fall, on my own account, for my class rank for the German, for my interest & aid in societies.
