Dear Brother
I have written a very full letter to Lucy which I enclose to you, for you to forward to her as soon as convenient. Your last letter came safe to hand yesterday. It was a first rate one well filled & in all respects valuable. For it you have my heartiest thanks, & you shall receive a more extended answer soon than I can spare time or have room to write at the present time. Or you may consider this with the one to Lucy as an answer and write again. The new postage law has been beneficial to me at any rate Since July 1st I have received three letters for five cents each which by the old law wold have been ,25 each. As for pecuniary matters, I think I can get along & get home, without any, if i can come back next term.
I have considerable tin & rags in my possession, in my official capacities of Steward of Boarding Club, and as Treasurer of Ath. Soc. & you know bills are payable next term. I would certainly be here next term if I could come back here with 20,00 and a new coat!
I am very much obliged to you for papers/ I wish you would tell Eliab about writing to me and the importance of improving his time. I should think you might talk to him well on that score if any body.
I want to tell you renewedly on the importance of you dressing yourself, dressing yourself well. Brother
