as given to her, and carried off with her, and moreover now claims that the Seminary is indebted to her some $900.00 They say that though Weeks is too shiftless ever to support himself, there is no doubt that his wife will manage or maneuver a living for him somehow. Perhaps you remember my telling you of her buying some furniture of Mr. Keyes for the Seminary. She send Brad Skinner to Keyes for the bill, saying the money was ready. Keyes made out the bill about half price, and receipting it gave to Skinner to deliver & bring back the money. But in return of the Messenger Mr. Keyes was astonished, amazed & vexed at receipt of a polite note of thanks for the liberal donation of furniture! He pocketed it as best he might and said nothing. Not long since he received a note from Mrs. Weeks inquiring whether he did not intend that donation of furniture to herself rather than to the Seminary! He coolly answered that he certainly did not intend it as a donation to the Seminary, and so Mrs. Weeks carried it off! This forenoon, to Church. Mr. Hawkins the Methodist preached, Methodists occupy the Church half the time. Baptists who are about building a large church to seat 4 or 500, use the Campbellite Church when on alternate Sabbaths there is no meeting of the 'Disciples', and the rest of the time in a school house.

Property affairs here prosperous. Keyes has sent me about half the money he has collected: but owes me some $2,000.00 or more paid to him in labor, materials etc. on Mill, houses etc.
Bills Receivable say $18,000.00 dollars all drawing 10 per cent interest, all safe. Nearly 200 lots unsold worth from $50. to $100.00 each, perhaps average 100.00 each.
When there is a Reservation Block 53 belonging solely entirely to Metcalf would bring I presume $2000,00 today at the least. Then the 18 acres joining Town which Metcalf reserved for his heirs, on which the Nurserymen agrees to keep fenced & taxes paid & pay 50. per year. Then the 40 acres a mile off, where I ought to have built & lived now. Then the Coal Interest, I guess we shall do Nettie. This is from Isaac.
