DuQuoin Dec. 15 1863 DuQuoin Perry Co. Ill. Tuesday Dec. 15 '63 My Dearest Just came to hand your nice letter, mailed the 12th; and also one from your Father mailed the 9th. I wish the children did not have colds so; but I do not know how to help it. Does Charley Rich keep water in the evaporating pan in the furnace? Do you keep abundant ventilation in your sleeping rooms by night: Do your Children be washed all over in cold water every day? That makes the difference with me.
