hardly well enough; tired with the weeks cares, Tonight she was going & the horse stood at the gate, but Charles had gone down to the Drs. & I did not get back in time to go with her. So the Girls both went the Methodist Church, where Dr Wheeler preached, as he did in Morning. Friday I wrote you of Cass M. Clay's being here. The Morning was extremely unpropitious, very rainy till one oclock. It did not rain at Eleven & I went out on horse back on the Oberlin Road to meet Clay, quite a troop of us. It began to rain again & we got nicely wet. Clay has been speaking in open air about every day for five week, and was about broken down. So he did not do credit to himself.
