Dearest We did not get any letter from you yesterday, and none from Dunbarton; wherefor Mrs Twiss & Mrs Bowden enquired at Church. No letter came, but Mary Barber did come arriving from Sandusky on the afternoon train However joyfully she might be welcomed, it is suspected by the cynical that a letter from yourself might have been equally welcome. Miss Barber attended a Prayer Meeting at the Baptist Church this forenoon I understand. However she was not especially missed at the Stone Church, where a quite full house was assembled to hear the Rev Theodore Holmes of East Hartford, who preached to beautiful acceptance, and also addressed the Sabbath School and also the infant class. Mr Holmes is quite a handsome young man, appearing some 10 or 15 yrs under his reputed age, rather short but quite muscular with a bright sharp blue eye. I imagine he will take well, though perhaps not very much of a preacher, but evidently an energetic live man.
