Dear Mother

I intended to write some letters as soon as I got home; but I got here lazy, and more over found considerable to do when I arrived, and so this is my first attempt at it.
When I go to Bangor, Eliab over? persuaded me to stay there till Wednesday. That made my visit at Dunbarton rather short. I arrived there at 10 P.M. Wednesday, and staid till 8 A.M. of Thursday. Got home Saturday. Found all well here: both the children still fatter & stouter than when I went away. Nettie had not been very well, the care of the heavy children was too much for her; and she had to get an other girl, a little one, to take care of Charlie for her. Anna & her folks are quite well I believe. Old Mrs. DeWitt died last week Tuesday and was buried on Friday. Mrs. Fitts I believe is thought to be failing, going gradually more weak & emaciated.
I do not know as there is any news here. Mrs. Lyman Knowles is selling out her Goods, and removing to New York. There has been no frost here yet. The Corn late planted, is ripening off very nicely.
