Anna Dec. 15'58 Elyria Dec 15th/58 Dear Mother

Your good, long, most welcome letter rec the day after my last to you was mailed, deserved an answer before this, & I would gladly have written but ---- & here might follow an indefinite list of hindrances, little difficulties, engrossment of time & attention, with which it is not worth while to cover in my letter; I will only mention that our good, really superior girl has been obliged to go home twice sick with the ague. the first time was gone a week came back & staid two has now been gone three weeks, will stay till well, I believe I told you of her in my last how faithful, & capable she was, would sweep & dust & take care of every thing nicely; she came from Phil. lived awile at Mr. Christy's washed in the cellar where it was wet & damp. She had been a chamber maid & not exposed to hard ships, so took the ague. We have now a girl who will stay till she finds a situation for all winter

[across top] Our furs are elegant price over 60 doll's each we got reduction in taking two sets. I am truly obliged for your really pretty collar I find it very useful . It is done very nicely. Mallie sent me a beautiful wrought collar just what I needed. I have not bought many since the small ones are worn,.
