Samuel went yesterday to Boston; will probably be back on Wednesday or Thursday. There is not much to be done in the Garden nowadays, and I am rather short of business if I have to stay here most of the week. The Garden is fine--produces Peas, Beans, Beets, Corn, Potatoes etc. besides flowers innumerable. Lucy says tell Nettie She has so much 'on her mind' nowadays that she can not think of any thing to write. She has been full of company, but her health seems to be very good Young Jos. Sykes proposes to send her a couple of brace of doves, choice varieties Fantails & Tumblers. Percie is in prime health. Though he eats little but crackers & such like. Lucy has made Ten Gallons of Currant Wine! Is that according to Maine Law? Mr Packard is somewhat sick, and unable to preach last Sabbath. Jos. & Mary Sykes left for Boston on Monday. Please kiss Mayo several times, but do not try to lift him much or at all. Sincerely I.S. Metcalf
