How much good it would do me if I could only get such letters from home, as I am writing home so frequently. I believe I write more letters than all the rest of the family together. I certainly ought to receive more from some of you. Joseph keeps up a good correspondence that will become of my $60,00, Joseph $26,00 Carey & Co $19,00 A.L. Stanwood & Co, I owe $5,00 or 6,00. My last term bill is $17,48 Board $11,76, Societies when I go back, probably some $10,00, Fall term bills some $12,00 or 15,00 &e.&e. Do not dare to look any closer. I expect likely I shall have a pleasant school here after all. there will be no small scholars. I have the right to turn out if over 50, I believe. The teacher is left entirely to himself, the Fund Trustees never meddle or direct. Teacher forms his own plan & follows it to suit himself. Abundance of studies All English, High & Common Latin & French, Algebra Geometry & Surveying &e &e. I intend to be content and enjoy myself finely here, though I have hardly dared to think of home for a fortnight, for fear. All I ask is that you all will Write Write - I brought up a lot of new text books, Junior books, German books and Mechanics, which I suppose I must study this fall. It will perhaps be rather hard, it always is when one is teaching. Turner is noted as a great place for Sociability among young people immensity of parties of all kinds, dances, and balls, I have a strong mind to abjure the whole, though I suppose it is for my interest to get acquainted, go to Social parties perhaps, but take too much time. Post Office is 1 1/2 miles off or more, but I can send this tomorrow morning you will get it in the course of the week, and do Write. I want to know how every thing get along at home. How does Charles? Has he got the Meadow hay cut? People here have got done cutting grain. Is the rot killing potatoes? It is said there will not be potatoes enough for feed in Maine. Plow them in. Do Write. Isaac S.M
