by, and James told him of Joseph and said he was trusty etc. The letter contained $75. dollars in bills and was for a Mr. Rodgers of Tremont St. Boston. Mr. Little wanted he should give it to Mr. R. and get a receipt for it and send back. I should think if was considerable confidence to put in an entire stranger - one whom he had never before seen. As the Boat was starting a spark from the flue caught in the top of the front Foremast and was not seen till it had burst the shrouds, ropes- off and fell but it was extinguished without much damage. There was a very strong S.W. wind when the boat started and it was was much as ever could get turned round and started fairly - no till after two trials. I want very much to know how Elian got here Sun. He must have had a very cold ride against the wind all day. I thought of the poor fellow, much during the day - perhaps I suppose about as much, sitting by the fire and thinking of him as he did himself. I meant to have given him Joseph great thick Comforter but did not. I want the mittens again. Eliab most ought to have staid and looked at the (City) a spell. He did not hardly see a (Shop) or a (Meeting house) It was awful cold and windy and I had just come out of a new Store crossed out room, with very thin clothes and he and Joseph were cold moreover twas Sunday. there was hardly two people in the whole streets. I have paid Mr. Fox for my coat, rest etc. and carried my coat to him, he is a going to let it out a little. I shall send the rest up. I dont know hardly what it is best to do about getting boots and shoes, I suppose these boots will last me all winter and they are just as good in the winter. I guess I had better have a pair of thickish shoes, that will come up pretty high on my ankles, to near round - to school in fair weather etc. they will have my boots and help them through the winter. It is a great pity I did not have them a month ago. I am getting along decently about clothes, after a fashion, except pants to near to meeting Do have my newer crossed out pantaloons set somewhere or other decent if possible
