                                                Monday July 15th
I have got entirely over my illness; perfectly well, to day only not quite so strong as before, on account of physic and abstinence. Yesterday was the first time that I have been about from the S.S. I want very much to hear about your health. you have not written to me for a long time at least it appears long to me.

I wish you could see how nice our garden looks now a days, the strawberry vines are covered with great white berries, the potatoes are white with blos., the ? almost ready to blos. on it and the beets, carrots are very promising, quite large roots already. We have not began to hoe potatoes up to the farm yet, but shall this week, they were planted very late, very wet ground.

I am pretty well off for clothes now if only my clothes all set abominably especially my pants. I dont know whether I had better have a new coat or not. The blue one is much longe than they are now ? page torn and the sleves are very large. shows it was made for another. I dont know but my dark pants can be altered. I have none ? but a very little this summer, I have not run out any of my clothes much.
I shall not need any more books this term, and there is not but one, that I must have next term, that I know of now. that is a Greek read, if one can be got which was published by Little and ___ /young I believe in Boston, last year; That has not a dictionary it it etc. If that cannot be obtained (it cant here) I should have to have a great Donnegan's Dict. The other books, Classical Dict. and Andrews and Stoddards Latin Grammar, I could do without, I suppose.

I shall want some time a Greek testament, shall not need it next term I guess but it would be convenient. I want one with Greek and Latin both. I could ? the Latin now. I have a good mind to go home just before the examinations it would be so cute?! You must write to me of home Dear Mother Your most aff. Son
