9 Friday, last night we had quite a Storm of thunder Lightning and Strong Wind, our tent kept up altho we were momentarily expecting to be blown by the storm several tents in our neighborhood were blown down, and by the way all the [?] are [?] from Civilization still lot from plenty of Company the Road are full of Emigrants Civil War soldiers and it is [three unclear words] Company with 2 americans or long in a better Idea 50 horses [?] and a 100 Oxen with Teamsters, [?] &c And before we have all fixed up our tents and Started our fires those cattle and horses Covering the Shore at times it looked like a city or Market place then in the Morning at 7 oClock [?] all is [?] and place visited by the Wolf &c all [?] like a Virginian We Saw a [?] Wolf to day but to fire to lose a shot he cross over Road Some di. [?] across and condescended to look a [three unclear words] his demeanor was that of a Sheep killer I [?] daily shot prairie doves & plover, which are plenty and from these there is no famine in the Road We stoped today at Harington Ranch Weather evidently altered Some [?] Rain. 9 Saturday We Start to-day for the Banks of the little Blue Which is a River that takes its Rise in Nebraska and flows South from the big blue and then [?] and enters Kansas and by the by I should have told you that we are in Nebraska Territory some days. Whiskey Run was the first stopping place made by us in this Ter. to [?] this place the territorial line [?] and Certainly Kansas is fair
