Chicago Aug. 8th 1888 H.B. Stone Esq. Genl. Manager W.B. & Q.R.R. Chicago Dear Sir: Following please find special report of Opr. M.G. dated at Chicago Tuesday Aug 7th 1888. Opr reports that about a week ago the ticket agent of the WB & Q.R.R. at the C.C. & ?# and in the course of conversation asked Opr if anyone had been arrested for the last Milwaukee yards outrage and Opr answered negatively. Agent then told Opr that a man bought a ticket of him to Hawthorn a day or so previous who had asked agent the same question and he told him he did know the man who saw the party who threw the switch - the man told agent that he was near a box car and unobserved said he saw a man throw the switch. and after he had done so and the melee was going on "he" (the man who threw the switch) saw agent's informant and went to him and asked him what he was doing there. he said he wanted to go to Creston Iowa. he then took him to the conductor of a train close by and after some conversation with him he the conductor said he would take care of him.
