Maria seems to think it is not at all probable that she & Eliab will go to Elyria next fall

you talk my dear son as if it was really decid'd that I am going to Elyria again - now is it best - ought I to go Almeda says - if I refer to, but how can I tell whether I prefer to till I know whether I ought to
If I go it had probably better be a year from next fall It would not be worth while for me to be journeying much both on account of my age & the expense also. If I live to go there it is not to be expected that I should live to return here again & how could I leave all the lov'd ones here never to see them again. But it is not of much consequence where I am the little time I have to stay nor do I care much I only want to know what is duty. I cannot leave my bones in the land of my fathers exactly in either place
