Elyria July 10 1855 Elyria July 10th /55 I have been thinking for some days that it is a long time since I wrote last to my dear mother & quite too long perhaps she thinks that I have been owing her a letter; this delay however operates much the most to my disadvantage for I am far away from you all while the rest of the family are mostly within the compass of a few miles & can easily be gathered together in perhaps are most all with you now at Milo. Isaac was with us three weeks ago to day. he spoke of writing us of his where abouts but has not yet was uncertain whether or not he should visit Lake Superior before he returned. I suppose Nettie is with you more I am glad she is going to spend the summer at Milo Hope she will enjoy her stay there where there are so few privileges & outward means of employing the time & attention the society & companionship of loved ones becomes doubly dear. It is perhaps best that you did not come here with Isaac as [unclear] but I do hope you will find it desirable & best to come next fall. I am really quite relived in our own pleasant home [unclear] so I think somewhat show Lucy is for though there are neighbors all around us as near as meager thou she has, they are, like myself, quite keepers at home.
[upside of page] I think you ought to send [handout?] of [five?] dollars to Joseph Steven's little girl.
