Mother Aug. 7 54 poor little Percie is very sick the dear little boy has not been well all summer and Lucy is very much exausted & run down She has had a very hard time this summer She could not get your help her energy of mind and body have been too severely taxed if Percie get better she'll soon get rested but oh! if he should not -- But the Dr. talks encouragingly & he has a little appetite today we hope the worst is over - that none can tell we have had a long spell of hot dry weather not dry enough to hurt the corn I guess July 28th the day I came down here the corn was tassl'd out & it looked a beautiful dark green color & has all the time grown finely tho' it was planted late In regard to the ? I got Sam'l to enquire the price he finds that it is very low 25 cents only for unwash'd perhaps it will fetch more at Foxcroft. I've been reading a letter you sent to Eliab Dated July 23rd you say that S. Conant has started for home I am glad of it but I have some fears that I shall hear he is sick he is so nervous & anxious
