1758 "Col: Bird marched with his regiment from Virginia & built Fort Chiswel. He also built a fort on the north bank of the Holston, near to Long Island, in which his army wintered. Between forts Chiswel & Loudon some settlements were made prior to the breaking out of the war; which commenced in 1759." Tenn: Gaz
