+ When things were lost, on application being made to a priest, he set his unclear in the sun, where the morning rays came fairly on it, and prayed for instruction. Then on looking at the stone, it is said, he could see clearly the thief and the thing stolen; or case of a thing lost, he could see the articles and tell where it was.

  On returning from a hunting expedition all repaired to a priest, - (spent the night in watching till near day, then sweat, and plunged as they did before starting, --- having put all their dirty clothes under water, they now, on coming out, put on clean clothes, and the priest offered sacrifice for them. Then, on some occasions, the houses were all cleansed. -- Old fire, wood, & ashes thrown out and new fire made, but as the medicine feast was often observed in this month, the ceremony of cleansing the houses (was probably attended to at that time.
