2 everything passed quietly during the day and at about 6 o'clock officer heard that Employees of the Joliet & Elgin Road were going to "do up" Employees of the ? road. Therefore Officer went to S. Aurora and remained on duty there none of the parties made their appearance and nothing occurred - Officer's men reported all quiet during the night July 19th 1888 Officer reports some of the strikers as saying they will fight the ? to the bitter end and will not declare the strike off until the ? gives in. but they do not interfere any with the new employees. Officers men went on and off duty at the usual time and places. and report everything safe. July 20th 1888 Officer reports that at 2:30pm Mr. Rhodes called him to his office and requested officer to find one August Koegel one of the striking engineers saying that the Sheriff had a warrant for his arrest Officer told Mr Rhodes to inform Sheriff to keep watch of and close to officer and he would find Koegle for him. Officer did not find or see Koegle until 8:30pm. when he found him at the Fair, and Officer shadowed him until he went to his room at Hecks? Hotel at 12 clock. Officer then left Officer Ray to watch him. and reported to Mr Rhodes who told Officer that Koegel was going to Chicago on the 6am. train. Officer then went to Sheriff ? house and told him of the fact. that Koegel was in his room and
