Aug 26 - Sabbath. Father preached to day - O may the memory of the sermons go with me through the week.
            How prone - how very prone and to wander, this world, though I know it is vain & will soon pass away, occupies far too many of my thoughts - no one but God can help me. O may I be more active for God. My conscience tells me I do very little, very little. One week from tomorrow {it changed ?} I am again, prov. permitting the return of the responsibilities of teaching - may divine aid be mine. I feel my insufficiency.

Sept. 3 - commenced school at Goffstown. Sept. 11. May God aid me this day in every duty - he knows my need & may I trust wholly in him.
