                  We received your letter

Thursday informing us of your crisis &c and as Mother is going to send a certificate to get you out of Purgatory, I thought I would write a few lines to tell you how we get along nowadays. Things go on about as they used to here. Past Monday 2 monday of Sept was Election day. The votes in this were, Whig 72, Loco-poes 73, Conservative or F.0.J Smith 5. Robert Hervey is elected Rep. of Dutton 46 my Monday morning as I was getting the sheep I found a large flock of partridges over in the green woods, but before I could get the gun the dog scattered them so that I could kill but 5 Wednesday we burnt of the hedges they burnt well that night it began to rain and rained hard till about 5 Thursday What time did it begin and end at there Boston. We have had but 3 days help about reaping Russell 1 day while Charles was gone to Bangor, Shinford I, and W F Godso 1 day for Bill Hamblen. We moved about 3 acres of wheat and bound the sheaths, we mow about all the Oats for lack of time, The late when by the road was pretty good and not hurt by frost much. The oats are all good Charles has broke up about 4 acres on the upper one of the interyale with the horses. I have shot 2 muskrats 1 great and 1 little muskrat, 1 great and a little Hennefood?
