Milo Nov 3rd 1849 My own Dear Son, I receiv'd your letter Monday eve with joy and gladness. I rejoice that you got through your journey so Comfortably also that you have found such agreeable Company as Mr. Dole - perhaps you will find other very agreeable companions if you will allow yourself to be acquainted with them You speak of "Actual Comfort" - I cant conceive of any such thing as actual comfort pack'd in a cold wet sheet at 5 o'clock in the morning - Compared with Snoozing in a good warm bed Is n't it horrible wicked to be so dreadful lonesome as I am when I can have the pleasure? of Albinas Company all to myself day after day - Tis She that has the worst of it for she has all the talking to do I am always dull & stupid about talking you know but I can hear pretty well -- is clever and kind hearted not withstanding some fret and disagreeableness & I have much reason to be thankfull When you write to Isaac tell him to come home at Thanksgiving and take you along on his way you will have found out by that time how to "Treat" yourself with cold water and can carry it on at home (by the way what is the temperature of the water you are treated with) perhaps your present Home and present Mother could do you more good but it will be more expensive however you ought not to mind that if it is really better for you
