Sunday June 27. 1880 Developments ..... Monday June 28 1880 Bartges & I went to the mountains to look for sheep Ranch Tuesday June 29 1990. Returned home Wednesday " 30 " at Bartges Thursday July 1, 1880 F 2 Saturday July 3 1880 Sunday July 4 1880 Monday July 5 1880 In Company with Walter Bartges I set out for the Pen de Oreille (Pou de ray) Lake, on horseback Follow N.E. unclear valley 4 miles - thence over low divide and descend a dulch to the Tukanon River, 14 miles - Thence over a high divide to Snake River 6 miles, thence across the River of Texas Ferry. THence up a ravine 7 miles and camp at a spring - Day hot & dusty p water & grass poor - Heavy wind squall directly after going into camp - Distance 27 miles Tuesday July 6~1880 Our horses had gone back on the road about 1 1/2 miles, but were soon brought in and we set out up the gulch about 1 1/2 miles, thence by an "Old Road" to the left over the grassy hills to Willow Creek, a small spring branch running to the west through an Alkali vally
