THence up a ravine 7 miles and camp at a spring - Day hot & dusty p water & grass poor - Heavy wind squall directly after going into camp - Distance 27 miles Tuesday July 6~1880 Our horses had gone back on the road about 1 1/2 miles, but were soon brought in and we set out up the gulch about 1 1/2 miles, thence by an "Old Road" to the left over the grassy hills to Willow Creek, a small spring branch running to the west through an Alkali vally
