7 miles we came upon the south fork of John (??Days River) about 5 miles below the mouth of the S.F. of S.F.

At this point we (inused?) the Canyon City Road at about 18 miles from Camp Watson a small detachment of avalry having been stationed here for some time, was now relieved and went on to Camp Watson while I was instructed to remain here until June 6th.

This (?) has been the scene of many Indian (?) during the last year and many prisoners have been murdered and some stock driver away. I kept little little scouting parties out eery day until Tuesday June 6 when on (pursuane of orders of returned to Camp Watson over a hill country for 18 miles where we arrived in the afternoon.

This scout has been rather a pleasure trip rather than otherwise. The infantry soldiers endured the trip well. They made the same marches as the cavalry.
