Always my loved brother & sister

Do not think it is neglect or forgetfulness that has kept me so long from writing. I think you must have had letters from Nettie? before now (she sais she would write some days ago) telling of my sickness. I had not been able to sit up sentence ? for three weeks before this attack of pleurisy, a week ago last sabbath. Am much better, but a good deal of pain lingers also in my side & shoulders - to laugh troubles me considerable & very little strength - sort of slow lung fever now, but slowly getting over it - best day I have had today. Your letters rec'd of last night. Do, I ?, just come & fix up my garden, else it will have to go without love I fear - cannot write more - much love - from sis Lucy

[left-hand side] I do want to write you great long letters - I do so want to see you all. [right-hand side] Samuel & Lucy Bangor
