"The Conewauches? say, that angels in old time frequently visited the people, instructed them how to pray, & to appease the Great Spirit when he was offended. They were to often sacrifice, burn tobacco, & buffalo & deer's bones." H.ab.st 243 Ex. ch 30. v. 7.8.
