 I feel glad you have got a situation if it is one that suits you but I do feel a good deal disappointed that you are not coming home this fall- but I will hope that you will have a chance to come after working there a while and not be out in that business in the bitter cold weather.
   I want to say something to you about exposing your health in every possible way etc. etc. and tell your how ungenteel and antiaristocratic it is or anything to make you act better but the girls say let him alone he is old enough to take care of himself- well do it that's a good boy - and my Dear Dear son do not in your multiplicity of thoughts neglect the Bible always remember that "wisdom is the principle thins,,
 C. has got the intervale cleaned to make a place for the cows, he think she shall have at least 50 bushels of corn (in all) - 10 loads of pumpkins on the intervale besides a great lot of beans and carrots & turnips.
  I hope you have visited your Cousin Andelia Dickenson, a very sensible woman, and cousin Mary Barbers Daughter  very lovely girls - & why in nation didnt you visit at Mr. Perkins Royalston I can hardly forgive you I mean I wish you had - & at Mr. Bing Heywoods if you could have time..

I am really glad you have had a chance to spend a little season about the ? I could too-- I thank you very much for your good long letter of News there ?more things and folks I should like to hear about. I feel thankful that you are such a good boy about writing letters - be not weary in well doing

 I am very ignorant about your employment I went to know more about it whether it is very very hard and very difficult whether you will have ant time to read & study - what kind of company you will be in (by the way I will just suggest to you the experience of carrying a little bundle of Tracts on you to scatter along as you find opportunity). We have had a fortnight of rainy weather almost every day it has rained more or less - but today is very fine and beautiful I shall have "lots of Tomatoes - not quite ripe yet but I guess they will be - the corn is very full and sound much better than anyone have raised before.

however I may disappointed - may not enjoy as much as I anticipate. We know not what a day may bring forth. I am in much haste -cannot write - will try to write more and better next time. Do write your long letters often and take good care of yourself. Good bye-
