Chicago March 29" 1888 H.B. Stone Esq C.B.&Q RR City Dear Sir Following please find report of Opr M.J. March 28" 1888 Today in Chicago Opr went to the C&E.I. yards with switchman who has charge of Engine No 29. Opr spoke to him and was recognized as a C.B.&Q. Switchman. Opr said he had heard that the "Q" was bringing a train to the C&E I and asked him what he would do when it arrived, switchman said that both he and Engineer would be sick. Opr went to Halsted St between 14th & 15th and each a switchman unclear Monroe. In course of conversation this switchman requested Opr to see Frank Wells one of the committee of the Switchman's union. Opr made an appointment with this committee man and met him in a saloon corner of 14th and Halsted St. Another switchman named Patrick unclear was with him. They explained to Opr. that in case the C.B.&Q. transfer was received a switchman was to go (when detailed) from other roads to his engineer and say I am going to the "Q" and if he declines to go report
