He is a real kind, noble -souled, generous, fellow I think. I like him much and her to. Spose you had a bit of a present New Years did'nt you. Wish we could some of us send you more and oftener. Christmas eve I found a Muff box in the entry, directed to me, containing a very pretty black muff. A very acceptable present indeed as I needed one much. I leave you to judge whether brother Jos. or old "Sandy Claws" himself placed it there.
Last year Mr. T. laid out upwards of ten dollars in Christmas presents. Charles was down here this week. I saw him but a very few minutes. Guess he and Mother are rather lonely sometimes. He ought to get married. Jan'y 14th - Jos. is going to send a letter to you sometime "fore soon" and I'll put mine in with it, though perhaps if I'd waited a while I might have had some more news to write. You must excuse me from writing a great deal this winter as I hardly have a moments time I can call my own except Sundays. Write to me again soon will you - Good bye - affectionately Sister Lucy.
