Dear Brother

On my return from Milo on the I found your last good long letter awaiting me. Many thanks for the same, dear brother. I had an opportunity to go home with Dr. Kimball, & accordingly dismissed my school for three days while Ann was at home. Had a fine time went blueberrying twice and did not get a dozen berries either time. Too late in the season for them. Charles and Albina came and brought me back Sabbath night after meeting. My school closes next Tues. I long for the time of my release to arrive. Every family in the District without an exception have beset me to come again next Summer. The Agent tried to make me promise; says I shall have as much wages as I can get anywhere else, more or less! I conclude from all this that I have given good satisfaction.
Your "Proverbial Philosophy" I am much pleased with. Should admire to get hold of the book. The "Crock of Gold" I have read. Came across it here in Lagrange. Like it very much. The person of whom I borrowed it had not read it, thought 'twas'nt much - nothing but a story etc. I thought from my knowledge of the individual it would be an excellent plan of he would read it or & put it to practical use! I gave him " a piece of my mind" when I returned the book.
Your unsealed letter was postmarked in due form at Brunswick. No harm if a few Lagrangers did read it! I suppose you know that Mr. Walker is remarried. Joseph writes about

[left-hand side] I do want to send you some of my money, but I am owing Ann most pay of it & don't know as it will be possible. I am very sorry you are obliged to leave College this fall for money, when there is so much of it in the world! But there's no consolation to it. If you go to Turner I would make them give you more than last year.
