Saturday Oct. 1 1853

Mayo four months old this day weighs 14 Lbs. 14 oz. - rather small compared with the huge babies we hear of - His down East cousin at the same age numbered 18 lbs. -

Finished little blue delaine sack for the wee one today - need some of the Scotts "Henilworth"? - Isaac at home all day - No letters for us by this day's post

Sabbath Oct 2-

My dear Mother's birthday - I ought to write her a letter at least - Isaac went to chh this A.M. & I went with Mrs Keyes this P.M. Mr Shepherd was expected but cane not - so Mr Bird read an excellent sermon from the National Preacher - I called at Edw Smith's - their little boy had a very bad fit today & is still quite sick - Dear little one - I hope he will soon be well - I wanted to hasten home and look at dear little Mayo and be sure he was well - How thankful we sh'd be for health
