Lucy offered to keep a school in Brownville for 1.50 per week, but was offered only 1.25. so I suppose she did not go. I have just written to her to home here, help one in my school and study some too, and I pay her board room with me for a month or two; it is exactly what she needs and would enjoy and my task is so hard and I can do so much more good in my school that I am willing to pay her board or a part of it for the sake of having her with me. I have 37 scholars of all ages from 4 to 18 with work, drawing etc. When you write next tell me what club you board in: Miss Weld thinks it must be in Mrs. Stamwoods, her aunts: she is at Mr Sylvestre staying a week is then going to Stillwater to stay till term begins, says she will find you out when she returns. she is not engaged to Mr Swasy but her sister is, who is staying on Rev. Mr. Adams this winter. Every thing is very dull here now; Mr. Walker has been engaged and disengaged quite a curious affair- I will tell you about it, when I have opportunity: I do not think so highly of him as I did. Charles Roberts has the name of being dissipated. Mr Pomroy write a letter to his people a short time ago, dated from Rome: he has visited Brussels, Geneva, Paris, since he left England in Nov.
