My Dear Son E Ann is writing a long letter to you & I have been wanting to this week or two I wanted to take back part of that letter I wrote last but which you answer'd very satisfactorily before viewing it I have just finish'd a letter to Mr. Child which was rather a delicate task for my poor brain I have neither time nor ability left to say the thousand and one things I want to say to you I am glad you are a good kind boy about writing soon in the way of well doing I have been counting the days to the first Wednesday of Sept I think it would be rather bad for you to be absent next term & I hope you wont have to be I did calculate to sell both yoke of oxen but now he is determin'd to let the farm next year if he can and if he does must furnish one yoke on the farm but thinks it would be better to hire money if we could than that you should leave next term the oxen are gaining weekly now and I think if he can get them Beef it would be better to sell them and buy another and cheaper on credit to put on the farm than to have money C's health is not near as good as it us'd to be he has a lame shoulder most all the time so that he can only sleep on one side- he has abused himself by hard work- we have had rain rain, rain almost every day this three weeks and now the hay needs to be all cut at once I am afraid a great deal will be wanted for the want of labor to get it our Grass is after all very stout and good if it could only be got in now all in a week or two
