Journal Across the plains in 1859

Monday April 25th

Weather warm. Bid good bye to Fishers Grove and the Mormons and traveled on through a fine looking but unsettled country. Crossed 2 branches of unclear River and camped within one half mile of Sidney. Traveled 14 miles.

Tuesday April 26th

Some rain and thunder last night. Drove into Sidney and the county seat of Fremont County. Our company bought their supply of bacon here for the trip at 9 cents a pound. Traveled on across a long stretch of bottom land that is unsettled and camped on Missouri River. Traveled 15 miles.
