There is a class beginning French this term, or going to, I wish I could study with them, but I don't hardly know whether I should have time. Besides I guess that should have to buy new books some, they begin upon a translation, which Ann has not got, you see I wish Joseph could be here this term, I do wish I could be at home this summer if it was not for studying most, I would be much more pleasant. It's much harder work to study than to labour!!! To me at least (specially in the Summer) I sometime think how much better it would be if I could be to work at home, out of school where it is really needful; than to be here fusty fustin on little but garden, wheeling hour after hour from one end to the other, bc Labour which might do more good somewhere else. We are getting to work in our garden considerably, all ready to be done. By the way if Charles is down again soon, I meant to send up some little lilac bushes if they would be taken care of, I could get some, lots of little (sehuleh???) flow roun garden stairs. I want a palm leaf hat, right away. How shall I get it? 23 My cloth one is so warm; it does very well to wear to school this 2 months but ((unclear)) work when it is as warm as today, for instance, and a shock cap is rather ((unclear) I don't to give 2/6 for one again. Lucy must try to get her things in as good order as she can, so that what sewing she has to do will be plain and easy.
